How to buy a VPS with Bitcoin (step by step)

June 18, 2026 · 5 min read

Buying a VPS with Bitcoin is faster and simpler than most people expect. There's no card form, no billing address, and no waiting for a bank to approve anything. Here's the whole process, start to finish.

1. Choose your plan and region

Decide how much CPU, RAM and NVMe storage you need, then pick a datacenter close to your users or in a jurisdiction you prefer. If you're unsure, a 2 vCPU / 4 GB plan comfortably runs most websites, VPNs and small databases.

2. Create an account

All you need is an email address — ideally an alias if privacy matters to you. There's no identity verification on standard plans.

3. Generate your invoice

At checkout, choose Bitcoin (or Lightning for near-instant, near-free settlement). The invoice shows the exact BTC amount at the current market rate, an address, and a QR code. That amount is locked for a short window so price movement doesn't matter.

4. Send the payment

Open your wallet, scan the QR or paste the address, and confirm. On-chain Bitcoin usually needs one confirmation; Lightning clears in seconds.

5. Log in

As soon as the payment confirms, provisioning runs automatically. Root credentials and the console appear in your dashboard, typically within a minute for a KVM VPS. SSH in and you're done.

Tip: keep a small amount of Lightning-ready BTC for renewals — it makes monthly payments effectively instant and nearly free.
