Build a no-KYC seedbox on a VPS

A seedbox is a remote server that downloads and seeds torrents at datacenter speed, around the clock, independent of your home connection. Building your own on a VPS is cheaper and far more private than a managed seedbox — especially when you pay in crypto and sign up without ID.

Pick the software

qBittorrent-nox with its web UI is the simplest full-featured choice. ruTorrent + rTorrent is lighter and endlessly configurable. Add Jellyfin or a simple HTTP server if you want to stream or pull finished files over HTTPS.

Size it correctly

Seedboxes are bound by disk and bandwidth, not CPU. Choose the largest NVMe allocation you can and, critically, a plan with unmetered or very high traffic — a busy seedbox moves terabytes a month. A 2 vCPU / 4 GB KVM VPS with big storage is plenty.

Keep it private

• Pay in Monero and sign up with an alias so the box isn't tied to you.
• Bind the client to the server and reach it over an HTTPS web UI, not an open port.
• Choose an offshore, DMCA-tolerant location so routine notices don't interrupt service.

Because the VPS was bought with crypto and no KYC, your seedbox has no billing trail — the privacy comes from the foundation, not a bolt-on.
